Supervisor Kathryn Barger

Kathryn Barger proudly serves Los Angeles County’s Fifth Supervisorial District, spanning 2,800 square miles, 22 cities and 87 unincorporated communities in the Antelope, Cresenta, Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. A lifelong District resident, her father Richards D. Barger, served as State Insurance Commissioner for Governor Ronald Reagan and was a prominent downtown Los Angeles attorney for over 50 years.

Kathryn began her career in public service as an intern for Supervisor Mike Antonovich when she was a college student. During the course of her career with Supervisor Antonovich, she served as chief policy advisor on health, mental health, social and children’s services before being appointed his Chief of Staff in 2001. She served in that capacity until 2016, when she was elected to replace her termed out boss as County Supervisor. She is the only Republican on the five-member Board and is running for reelection next year.

Kathryn has been a strong advocate for law enforcement, the environment, open space, recreational programs and facilities along with libraries and after school programs. With a strong sense of fiscal responsibility and prudence, Kathryn is dedicated to providing vital county services while protecting financial resources as a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
