Author, Scientist, Professor Pat Fidopiastis

The Fear-based Unscientific Response to COVID-19

Pat Fidopiastis is a microbiologist specializing in beneficial and pathogenic associations between bacteria and their animal hosts. His lab uses a combination of classical microbiology approaches and molecular tools (e.g. genomics, proteomics, microarray, PCR, etc.) to understand the mechanisms that bacteria use to colonize animal tissue. They use these tools to study the abundance and distribution of pathogenic viruses and bacteria in host animals and the environment.

Fidopiastis was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award (2013-14), the most prestigious award for faculty, who have achieved outstanding instructional performance, as well as three additional annual awards, from CSU at San Luis Obispo. He has taught courses at Cal Poly, Skidmore College, University of Hawaii, University of Southern California, and CSU Fullerton.

He has supported and worked with two large companies with climbing gyms in California and Washington, Indoor Climbing Coalition, by providing expert testimony on their COVID safety protocols.

Much of his work has been published in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, as well as being published in The Federalist, at Brownstone Institute, among others.

He often works with attorneys as an expert witness to support plaintiffs who need supportive evidence in cases involving: biochemical damages from foodborne infection, other disease detection such as Legionnaires Disease, mold contamination in the soil, hospital outbreaks of microorganisms, and damage due to sewage spillage.

Fidopiastis earned his B.S. and M.S. from CSU Fullerton. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Hawaii, Manoa.

Come hear the science (the truth) from a real scientist.
