HISTORY

The Los Angeles County Lincoln Clubs was founded in the wake of the 1978 elections. Formerly part of the United Republican Finance Committee of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County (RPLAC), the Lincoln Clubs broke away from RPLAC in 1979. Led by former URFC Chairman Julian Virtue, the Lincoln Clubs became an independent Republican major donor organization.

Our first major success came in 1980 with the election of new Los Angeles County Supervisors Deane Dana and Mike Antonovich, creating a Republican majority on the Board. Mr. Virtue personally tapped Mr. Dana to run, and Lincoln Club leaders provided major financial support to both candidates in their upset victories over sitting incumbent Democrats.

The Lincoln Clubs have gradually spread throughout Los Angeles County and now include every major population center of the nation’s largest county. We are leading supporters of the vital voter registration programs that have propelled Republican growth in Los Angeles County during the past few years. The Lincoln Clubs have been working with the County Party in this historic renaissance by funding and managing the voter registration program. This award winning program is the best in California and produced over 25,000 new Los Angeles County Republican voters so far this year, more than twice as many as second-place Orange County.

Building on growth in our first quarter century, we our goal is to create a Republican voter majority in Los Angeles County during the next quarter century.

PETERS MESSAGE

APRIL / MAY 06 MESSAGE

I was proud to attend our state Party convention in San Jose in February and inspired by the breath of talent, dedication and commitment to service our candidates, activists and supporters offer the state. We are clearly an alternative for the better and I urge you all to support the Governor’s re-election in November.

I have also been proud to help launch our new website at laclc.org. The site has been designed for ease of use and I hope you will use it to RSVP for meetings and it as a resource for information for yourself and prospective members.

Your contributions are necessary to make our Web site successful. We can use editorials, photos and event news pertaining to the activities of our members and the politics of Los Angeles County. Although I can not guarantee use of everything we receive, your contributions are greatly appreciated and vital to keeping the site current and in doing so bringing credibility to The Lincoln Clubs.

Thanks for your support and input. Please note I have a new email address at pbylsma@laclc.org.

God Bless America !
