Kathryn Barger proudly serves Los Angeles County’s Fifth Supervisorial District, spanning 2,800 square miles, 20 cities and 83 unincorporated communities in the Antelope, Crescenta, Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. A lifelong District resident, her father Richards D. Barger, served as State Insurance Commissioner for Governor Ronald Reagan and was a prominent downtown Los Angeles attorney for over 50 years.

She served in that capacity until 2016, when she was elected to replace her termed out boss as Fifth District County Supervisor. The only Republican on the five-member Board recently secured another four-year term by winning the March 2024 primary election.

Supervisor Barger continues to advocate for services and programs to improve the quality of life for foster children, seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those with mental illness. Kathryn’s leadership also shone when she served as Chair of the Board throughout the COVID-19 crisis in 2020.

Supervisor Barger has been a vocal and strong advocate for law enforcement, the environment, open space, civic and recreational programs. With a strong sense of fiscal responsibility and prudence, she oversees the delivery of vital county services while balancing the protection of financial resources as a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
